I'm Jenny Wong and I'm running for re-election as Berkeley City Auditor.
Since assuming office in December 2018, I have taken on deep dive looks at some of Berkeley’s most pressing issues. Our office has looked at street condition and funding, the state of our fleet and electrification, fire inspections, domestic violence policy, and the police department dispatch unit, calls for service, and overtime.
When COVID-19 hit, our office pivoted quickly to conduct an analysis of the likely impact on Berkeley’s budget, sounding the alarm about potential revenue losses and budget shortfall and laying out options for addressing these issues. Most recently, my office issued an important audit of the City's overall financial condition.
As an auditor for 20+ years, I’ve worked to elevate standards and produce quality work to improve City services. In the last three years, two of our reports have won national awards for the best audit in the country for an office our size from the Association of Local Government Auditors.
I’ve also worked to make our audits and departments’ responses to them more transparent and accessible to the community.
It has been an honor to serve Berkeley residents over the past few years and I look forward to earning your trust and support for another term.
